The Speedway Police Department Investigations Division is currently under the supervision of Lieutenant Trent Theobald.  The Division is broken down into the Criminal Investigations Unit and the Street Crimes Unit.  Detectives in the Criminal Investigations Unit deal mainly with crimes reported by the general public.  Detectives conduct thorough investigations of these crimes in an effort to prosecute all offenders involved. 

 

The Speedway Police Department Street Crimes Unit is a specialized unit that takes a proactive approach to policing.  The Street Crimes Unit acts upon complaints and crime tips reported by the general public.  The Street Crimes Unit also develops their own information of criminal activity and acts appropriately based upon this information.  The unit was started in February 2007 to take a more aggressive and proactive approach to policing on the "Street" level.  Since the group began their duties in 2007, members have effected arrests on many drug traffickers, fugitives and other violent criminals.
